First impressions..
Reminds me of the IWC Aquatimer at first glance. I like the forged carbon addition with the ceramic bezel and steel plots. Will have to see it in person but from the pictures I think I like the looks of this better than the original Diver. It is clearly a step up in terms of materials. Although I can only imagine the price being in the mid 30's or so if the current Diver is around 21 and change. Hmm..

The forged carbon diver has a great color scheme...
and the yellow accents really add a ruggedness to it. A simple bumblebee.
I guess we'll be seeing 12 billion divers!

If I could pinpoint my biggest criticism of AP it would be the endless variations of the same pieces.
Wow! - that AP diver is a real stunner..
.... also probably due to Allen's amazing picture but that FC diver really speaks to me. Love to see more complete set of shots, but TOH, I was never a big fan of the diver vs the chrono, but this really does change my mind. Looking forward to more detail...

I like the Offshore Diver, but...
I like the Offshore Diver, I feel that it has so much more character than the Patek Philippe Aquanaut (which is a very comfortable thinner watch). But this particular model reminds me of the IWC Aquatimer...
It didn't remind me of the Aquatimer since it was all black.
The Aquatimer seemed to always have some silver colored steel or titanium parts showing.

pandering to the chinese
I am really annoyed by all the pandering to the chinese swiss watch companies are doing these days. It just reeks of a mad cash grab. We are going to see dragon or panda watches from every brand and its just ridiculous, no matter how well executed the act...
And they're not NEARLY as bad as Piaget
with their "put a single Chinese character on the dial, call it a special edition"

There are 3 steel ones with white, black and blue dials and bracelet.
I think there are 2 rose gold bracelet ones with white and black dials and 2 rose gold croc strap ones with white and black dials.

I always thought last years RO Diver had a bit too much stainless steel showing. This is just gorgeous and even more sporty with the color combo (most of us think IWC when we see this). One alternative would be to put this black ceramic bezel on the ss RO...

there was very little talk about this one, but I understand from both Merk and Garcia that we'll see a lot more from the Jules Audemars and Millenary collections throughout 2012. Guess 2012 is not just about RO's.

The Tourbillon version is going to cost more than 300,000 Swiss francs.

But for the price of Platinum and the works that goes into it, i guess it could very well be worth it. But others dont do the same, wonder why AP has to ask so much? Is it really that good and worth it? Stephen

37mm RO..? I assume the 15300 is discontinued to be replaced with the new 37 and 41mm versions, and the 15202 stays at 39mm with the same movement..? If that is the case what about the 15305..? Is that to be stopped too..? I hope so..! Great report and th...
Those are good questions. I remember asking about the 15300..
But I don't recall for sure whether it is discontnued. I will try to find out.
FYI...
my dealer is over there today and has text me to say he is led to believe by AP that the 15300 and 15305 are being discontinued with the new 41mm (& 37mm..?) size replacing it. If that is the case then there are very few 15305 skeletons like mine abou...
Really the best release from any house this year!
2012 will be the year AP goes truly stratospheric. The releases are fantastic, the Jumbo re-issue is spot on! (No fake patina unlike Richemont Group)
