I like your thought questions and I can relate to them well, as. I went through similar.
My take:
1. not a problem at all. Wear it for beach vacation quite a bit.
2. this is an issue, because of the edged shape. Like nautilus I found them to be somewhat of a scratch magnet. One of the reasons I went for a ceramic case as a keeper
3. yes, when it comes to leisure, it made me sell most of the Rolexes I used prior
4. yes, will stay. Gives me joy when I put it on and gets a lot of wrist time. It is robust and sufficiently water proof, but still cool and stylish. More versatile than the roo chrono I found. Depending on your wrist, looks larger though.
Knowing what I know by now, would always do it again.

I can't speak to the ocean use question, but the wearability and enjoyment on the wrist are quite nice. The Diver is a very good offering from AP.

I like mine a lot - fit and finish are above any other sports watch at this price point. It's a definite keeper.
My only complaint is accuracy - mine was +20 sec/day right out of the box and now a more decent but not perfect +5 sec/day after I got it regulated.
It was my first real watch...

1) Yes, Yes and Yes. You can dive with it. Sand and particles are going to get stuck in the watch esp the layer of rubber between the bezel and the case. It's going to cause blemish on the bezel and it will wears out your watch especially those nicely pol...

Movement too slim and service costs will be huge. Bezel screw at 11 if left open compromises the waterproofness. If the accuracy is +20 sec then No No No for me.
