Big love for AP 1930s Moonphase Triple Calendars
This is the kind of AP watch I would love to own...
The total output for non-perpetual calendar timepieces by Audemars Piguet between 1924 and 1967 amounts to an incredibly meagre 176 examples.
This production is split into two “phases”, implying different movements:
- The first phase, exemplified in this post, goes from 1924 to 1954 with the vast majority of this production employing cal. 10GHSM, with one exception at the very beginning: the first calendar watch, shown below, employs cal. 10HPVM.
- Then the second phase, not exemplified in this post, switches to cal. 9/10RSQ.

PALE YELLOW GOLD EXAMPLE FROM 1927 BELONGING TO MATTHEW BAIN
25.5 x 28.5 mm case, manual cal. 10GHSM
As Matthew Bain states in his dedicated article, this example is "one of only 48 early pieces in a rectangular case with the coveted 10GHSM caliber, featuring a triple calendar, moon phases, and age of the moon (complete calendar). Cased in pale yellow gold — a rarity, as most were white gold — accounting even for the non-rectangular cases, only 35 of these were ever made in this metal."

All of those are just so classy and beautiful.
Now those and some of the Ultra thin watches from the 60-70's are AP's I would love to own, hadn't ever seen these types of AP's before. I don't know but how about instead of maybe the hundredth RO they could re imagine these for the modern times. Thanks ...
