CODE 11.59 Starwheel

 By: MichaelC : August 25th, 2023-20:58
A current release which pleases me quite a bit. This is the AP I enjoy. ...

Freaky cool!

 By: amanico : August 25th, 2023-21:03

Looks nice

 By: brauner : August 25th, 2023-21:14

Thanks

 By: MichaelC : August 25th, 2023-21:51

Stunning timepiece, Michael.

 By: Pretty Boy : August 25th, 2023-21:20
That’s my favorite Code 11.59. Best, V.

Agreed.

 By: amanico : August 25th, 2023-21:33

Mine too. Honorable mention for the Tourbillon & Minute Repeater

 By: MichaelC : August 25th, 2023-21:53
Alas, those play in another league on cost of entry.

Really worth enjoying.

 By: hora12reborn : August 25th, 2023-21:25

SO fun and exciting up close!

 By: MichaelC : August 25th, 2023-21:55
AP really did a great job with this one.

Cool code

 By: TeutonicCarFan : August 25th, 2023-21:28
I like this ref 👍

Mine too :-)

 By: MichaelC : August 25th, 2023-22:47

Yes a bit over a month ago

 By: MichaelC : August 25th, 2023-22:47
I have not posted it much.

How do you tell the time?

 By: nasseriq : August 25th, 2023-22:34

The 12 hours appear on the 3 blackened aluminum discs

 By: MichaelC : August 25th, 2023-22:49
The 0-60 minute track runs across the top of the dial. So in the first photo, it is 1:41. Once it hits 1:60, the hour numeral 2 will aligned on the left side at 00.

Really awesome

 By: stabilizer : August 26th, 2023-00:37
I wonder could there ever be a downsized Code line? Like the 37 and 39mm RO’s

Maybe. It really fits great as is.

 By: MichaelC : August 26th, 2023-01:15
The lugs sit inside the edges of my wrist. They are short and angle down. Wonderfully ergonomic. Here is a quick shot. ...

It really is excellent. And I have to credit AP on the strap and buckle

 By: MichaelC : August 26th, 2023-13:46
I want to add the strap to other non-APs, but need to confirm how it attaches (as in could it be used with a normal springbar).

That is great!

 By: stabilizer : August 26th, 2023-17:56

There is something you don’t see every day

 By: Aquaracer1 : August 26th, 2023-01:22
Very nice. Enjoy!

I don't expect it will be made in substantial quantities

 By: MichaelC : August 26th, 2023-02:11
It will likely remain a rare sight for a while.

I love the center ceramic case design👌🏽

 By: ArmisT : August 26th, 2023-01:30
The one feature I questioned about this piece was the dark oversized discs, which I wondered why they didn’t make lighter or transparent even like in older models. HOWEVER, when I saw them in your side shot, I understood that they are nicely complementary...

That's exactly it, and in person, it is so apparent.

 By: MichaelC : August 26th, 2023-02:24
The way the ceramic case walls wrap into the black inner bezel is just fantastic. All suspended within the structural white gold frame. At the risk of sounding a bit corny, it is like this frame has captured a chunk of outer space and contained it on the ...

What an acquisition!

 By: K-Lo : August 26th, 2023-03:25

That is for sure one of the best AP watches in the last years.

 By: jlux : August 26th, 2023-07:33
Your pictures do the watch justice!! Best, Gerard

Thanks, Gerard. I fully agree.

 By: MichaelC : August 26th, 2023-13:49
And after seeing that dreadful Royal Oak release a day ago with whoever that designer is - I needed to post this Starwheel to refresh on how awesome AP can be too.

Just superb!!!

 By: pfang56 : August 26th, 2023-08:12
Are there any special details missing on this piece? Novel movement, ceramic components, aventurine dial, precious metal, skeletonized case, domed crystal, seconds hand, automatic movement - wow!! No surprise it is the most desirable piece. Thank you for ...

It's a pleasure, Peter. Let's include the strap and buckle too -

 By: MichaelC : August 26th, 2023-13:50
You know them well as a CODE owner, but I am very pleased with both. The strap texture really looks great with the Starwheel.

The detail on that piece is incredible.

 By: Tony-GB : August 26th, 2023-09:53
Thanks very much for the pics on this gorgeous, hypnotic timepiece Michael.

The airy, structural CODE 11.59 case is the perfect platform for this type of watch

 By: MichaelC : August 26th, 2023-13:52
I'm excited to see what else lands in this case... I know others are coming. Other material combinations too. Maybe tantalum suspended in titanium? I would not count it out.

Sounds wild!

 By: Tony-GB : August 26th, 2023-17:49

Always liked the Starwheel!

 By: MCG (Markus) : August 26th, 2023-09:55
In this contemporary 11.59 case a joy! The only thing I would change: Instead of a I, I would shoose a 1. Looks a a bit empty at those places…

A very reasonable point.

 By: MichaelC : August 26th, 2023-13:53
I was unsure about the inclusion of the seconds hand. But truthfully, it is not so readily apparent on this watch, and the little bit of animation is nice.

Awesome!

 By: andrea~ : August 26th, 2023-10:34

Thank you.

 By: MichaelC : August 26th, 2023-13:53

I love this new rendition of the starwheel!

 By: Fat Bastard : August 26th, 2023-15:20
I still remember being in DC on holidays in 1989 and the starwheel was on discount at Neiman Marcus if I remember well. Too bad I was just a freshman at university 😜

Wow. Wish I could turn back time to then!

 By: MichaelC : August 26th, 2023-22:17
I don't believe I have ever encountered an older Starwheel in the wild. Seen at the AP facilities for sure, but never out and about. Sure would love to.

Very cool watch

 By: GuyT : August 26th, 2023-18:58
I find this watch stunning, too big for my scrawny wrist though.

The case bezel is so lean, it sure gives the watch an appearance of being larger than it is

 By: MichaelC : August 26th, 2023-22:19
My first CODE 11.59 piece, and I am very impressed with AP's case design and finishing.

great close up shots!

 By: Jakx : August 26th, 2023-21:24

Thank you :-)

 By: MichaelC : August 26th, 2023-22:19

Certainly less freaky than the UR 😉, whilst retaining AP's magnificence beyond the RO. 🙌

 By: KCLQMULKU : August 27th, 2023-09:01
Absolutely gorgeous and unique in its own right!

AP nailed it. So different than the originals, yet so is the CODE 11.59 case

 By: MichaelC : August 27th, 2023-19:49
Bravo to the manufacture for giving us a whole new option.

Thank you dear Friend :-)

 By: MichaelC : August 27th, 2023-19:50

This is a beautiful AP and the starwheel is such a fun complication!!

 By: Spencer Karrington : August 27th, 2023-20:54
I know that the initial release of this series sort of bombed but I really think that the iteration of the new dials and models (this being a perfect example) really made the series become something that is really attractive!! Cognrats on a lovely watch

In total agreement.

 By: amanico : August 27th, 2023-21:30

Thank you, Spencer! And I agree with your assessment.

 By: MichaelC : August 27th, 2023-23:08
In general, I feel the CODE case calls for atypical dials and complications. The first dials seemed so traditional, and a "programmatic non-fit" to the case (excuse the verbiage, with the new NFL season around the corner, I think Brad Childress' statement...

I completely agree! altho I dont follow NFL or any sports for that matter so the verbiage went completely over my head lol

 By: Spencer Karrington : August 28th, 2023-00:01
But yes it is exactly like what Brad Childress said 😜🤣🤣

I only remember that because it was so out of left field.

 By: MichaelC : August 28th, 2023-02:09
I would have to research the specifics, but as I recall, the Minnesota Vikings cut their star receiver in an unexpected fashion. The coach's explanation was because the player was a "programmatic non-fit". I had never heard that before, but again, I someh...

Lolz! I think I understand/get the jest ......

 By: Spencer Karrington : August 30th, 2023-02:46
but dont know what a star receiver is, is that someone who like receives a star ? lol 😆 😂

43-44mm, strap screw to strap screw

 By: MichaelC : September 5th, 2023-21:02
I'll post separately about how awesome the strap and buckle are. I am extremely pleased with these important components.

Star wheel and space

 By: Eikþyrnir : August 30th, 2023-17:03
Magnificent time piece! I would love to see it in different colours too, but the black against the blue is so very beautiful! I love what AP has done with the code collection and I am very much looking forward to see what’s ahead. Wear it in good health m...

While I expect future versions, I think they nailed it as is. Also, production is extremely low I am told.

 By: MichaelC : August 31st, 2023-21:26
Might be a while before new versions come out, but I sure can dream of some options!

I wish I would have put it in writing...

 By: Jakx : August 31st, 2023-00:21
....but I honestly anticipated Starwheel would be nominated for this year's GPHG

And so it is

 By: MichaelC : August 31st, 2023-21:28
Quite deservedly so, IMO. I know I wrote years ago when the CODE collection launched that is should be the platform for a Starwheel. And here it is. But I am sure I am not the only one who thought it. It is just the perfect case for the timepiece.
