When I say value for money I am referring to the watches from the haute horlogerie brands (the first watch I ever owned, a Timex, may fall short of this group). So comparing a Lange Saxonia against a Patek Calatrava and a VC Patrimony, the Lange Saxonia would win hands down in terms of aesthetic, elegance, finish, movement, rarity and price making it excellent value for money. I agree with the Count that Lange watches portray a certain romanticism while Pateks exude class and elegance. Perhaps it is the understated dial or its close link with its vintage pocket watches that give Lange this aura.
Yes do wait to try on the Lange 1815 38.5m watch. The arabic numerals, to me, give any watch a touch of added elegance. Do try both on, one after the other and also bear in mind that chances are the 1815 will cost at least 50% more than the Saxonia. Of course, it is important to leave the shop knowing that you have bought the right watch irrespective of the price. All the best!
