So I got my first bad scratch on my saxonia moon phase. By way of disclaimer, I don't treat my watches as safe queens. Quite the opposite. I wear my watches. This watch in particular is probably my most worn watch this calendar year. And I don't mind all ...

Why we buy watches and put ourselves worries about damages. If we do not buy watches, life could be less difficult. In my case it is the complex soul. It want complex time peaces. Keeping my watches crips, is living on eggs. I used to it to life careful w... 

on the polished areas also. No big deal. Wear and enjoy. Only you know they are there and if you have the case refinished at service they will just reappear again.

The polished scratches don't bother me at all. The only way to avoid those is to now wear the watch. Just the location of this one hurt more. Thanks for input

Watches are meant to be worn. It's the location of the scratch that bothers me more than the fact it is scratched. Maybe it is unrealistic to think that brushed surface stays clean looking..

"Don't be so hasty", as Treebeard would say. I will do the same. Hopefully it will bother me less

10 times larger than the watch. In real life no one will notice it. Just like the first scratch on a new car. Relax and enjoy you beautiful watch.

Whether polished or brushed, the metal is identical. Brushed probably does a better job of obscuring the scratches but it should scratch all the same.

It's all relative

And then enjoy it for another five years. Builds character and history. You can tell a cool story about each scratch. In the end if you fall out of love and will let the watch go let tye new owner polish it and he can then begin his journey. Enjoy it.

And, having had some experience with this your watch will come back perfect if you decided to have them clean it up for you.

At least it looks like you have alternative to have it repair by ALS. I had a similar scratch on one of my watch and it bugged me so much I sent it to service...still waiting to get it back but am glad I did

On a side note and apologies for sidetracking the topic of your thread but I found it interesting to read your comment about Lange not making their watch cases. I was under the impression their manufactory was totally integrated. Who makes their cases?

Lange doesn’t make their own cases. Various people make cases for them. You can tell by looking at the sponsor mark on the case back. The case for my watch was made by Audemars Piguet (sponsor mark CO)

For the most part, Lange makes movements.
