I think it's pretty obvious that most people are going to choose the Lange over the GO

It would be more interesting to consider the choice of the lange 1 vs. the GO + another watch that makes up the difference in price, which is enormous between the two.
Regarding finishing, the Lange 1 is better, but not by an enormous margin in my view. Both have engravings, gold chatons, blued/polished screws, anglage, striping, perlage, and black polished parts. Lange wins for finer engraving on the balance cock, the use of german silver, the larger number of chatons, the case finishing, and better anglage. But the GO does have the advantage of having more total engraving, and I do like that they are filled with gold. I think that the Lange generally has the level of finishing that one would expect for the price, although there are similarly priced alternatives with better finishing if that's the priority. The GO on the other hand has a very high level of finishing for it's price point, and it would be difficult to find something comparable for less money.
The value of precious metal in a gold/platinum watch is actually quite small. It will be somewhere between 1-2K. I personally consider ~5K to be a fair premium for gold, but it seems like brands are typically charging more than that. Platinum is actually worth less than 18K gold even by volume these days, so I wouldn't be able to justify paying the enormous premium most brands charge for it unless I absolutely loved the platinum version for whatever reason.
