Had my mind set on a ZW date for my next Lange.

Thankfully, they had one in the boutique. After putting it on the wrist, the decision to pass was easily made. Don't forego the wrist test.

Zeitwerk on 6" wrist?

Hello Purists, Curious about your thoughts on how Zeitwerk (ref 140.029), WG, black dial wears on small wrists. My wrist is about 6 inches (~ 15cm) in diameter and top part is about 5 cm, which approximately matches the lug-to-lug distance. I know that it...

The Zeitwerk is a watch you should really check in person before buying

I do it with every watch, but as I‘ve already tried the Zeitwerk and Zeitwerk date in person I‘d say, that trying the Zeitwerk is even more important. Imho, the watch is expensive enough to justify a week-end trip to a city with Lange AD.

It would look huge on your wrist

My wrist is exactly the same size as yours. I tried it on and looked ridiculously large. Unfortunately, with a certain wrist size you can't have everything.

I have a 6.25 inch wrist. I tried several times over several years to convince myself the ZW works for me, it doesn’t.

If it was $500 it would be fine, maybe even a little more. But at the ZW level tolerances are different and so I could never get there. I don’t think it would be uncomfortable however, just that it will look big and actually too big for your wrist.

Sorry, would be too big

Not just the diameter at 42mm, but also the height at 12.6mm and it doesn’t taper at all. It would lose its elegance on a small wrist. Lange makes a bunch of watches at 38.5mm, many of the Lange 1 and the Saxonia’s.

Honestly... It doesn't look great on a small wrist...

I'd pass on the ZW. They're painful to wind. Difficult to live with. And they're not that reliable. They're not comfortable too, they're thick, heavy, and you strap them fairly tight on your wrist (since they'd somersault on your wrist due to the weight)....

Nope.

Always try it on the wrist before making a big decision i would say .

do you have any advice re buckle - tang vs deployant (of which I think there are a few variations ... regular, butterfly etc.) Thanks!

One more data point...

6" wrist (same as yours) and platinum ZW Striking Time (larger and heavier than a standard ZW) here. I wear it on a custom short-length strap with the detachable (quick-release) Lange deployant buckle that's typically found on the Lange 31 and certain oth...

Great info!
