I am very thankful that I dislike the Lange aesthetic as they seem to be the poster child for how to treat your customers poorly. Their servicing costs for the simple watches seems out of line compared to competitors and that leads me to think that the complicated watch servicing costs are similarly exorbitant.
However, I would never buy a Lange after having heard stories from prolific Lange collectors being treated as new to the brand when going to a new Lange Boutique after their AD lost the brand. When asked about that in an interview, Wilhelm Schmid said:
"Now, the challenge right now is there were a lot of good custoemrs that used to buy from their AD. And that AD doesn't have Lange & Sohne anymore. And unfortuntaely, we don't have the history of that AD with their customer. So here we are, pretty blind, because if somebody comes in, he or she will tell us, I am a customer, but we have no evidence, we have no history."
For me it is unbelievable that it is impossible for Lange to connect with collectors who bought from an AD. The only way I interpret this is either he thinks we are idiots and he is a liar, or he is incompetent - neither of which is the quality of someone I want to do business with.

Is it just this model or isn’t ALS known to have absurd servicing costs for even simpler models?
I don’t know how this compares to a complicated Patek or RM, for example, but you do highlight an aspect of ownership that not everyone necessarily considers…until they are forced to.
I haven’t owned Langes for a while, and didn’t service them, but wanted to have a Zeitwerk for life..

Schmid sounds like his brand is being willfully ignorant. The boxes and papers tell all; his justification won't do.
I would think if they just asked for the serial numbers they could figure it out pretty quick or

Yes, their servicing is tops!! And they take apart the movement twice during servicing...
I was hoping 3K at max, but I just couldn't stomach 5K for each servicing at this time, maybe after I sell something or are in a much much better financial situation

Lange service cost are on Patek level
My Dato and my Langematik Perpetual just underwent a service in Glashütte. Each service was 2,2k Euro, which is for the level of complication a reasonable price point. Just on Patek level. Quality was perfect and it lasted approx. 14 and 20 weeks. I'm ful...
How was your service so much lower than the Zeitwerk? That's reasonable.
I called Lange Miami and the quoted me $5,050 to service a first gen Zeitwerk.
5k is indeed the service cost for the Zeitwerk, but this is including case polishing/ refurbishment
Without it's 4,2k. The 2,2k for the Dato are as well without polishing. 3k would include this service. The Zeitwerk is more complicated and in service class 5. The Dato and the Langematik Perpetual are in service class 4
