Platinum is much more difficult to work with when machining cases and parts.
This doesn’t justify the exorbitant prices the watches in this metal command but explains them a bit.

Not only is Platinum heavier, the % of platinum is 100% . 18 karat gold is ony 75% gold and it is much less dense than Platinum.

Another ploy the manufacturers use to justify pricing it as they do. It’s a relatively soft material to machine, especially when you’re using tools with 10x (or more) the hardness. Grade 5 Titanium alloy is a good bit harder, and no-one ever talks about b...
