As a young college student I was given the opportunity to drive my first V12. This was it. It was special. My father had a slew of great cars, Porsches, Bentleys, Alfas and Lancias, but never  anything with a V12. As a way to make money in collage, I got a job as a roadie building shows and working on tours. I made more in a day then my friends did all week as waiters and store clerks. I made some great friends and saw some great shows (Stones, Metallica, Pink Floyd, Woodstock 94 etc.). But one memory I will never forget is having my boss throw me the keys to his 1987 Jaguar XJS HE And asking me if I could do the late night drive back home. Out on an open highway, with the accelerator pressed I felt real power. I have driven a V8 Bentley and a 911 before, but this was different. Quiet, lazy and without drama, even at 1500 rpm’s when the hand of God came and pushed it forward to ridiculous speed. The power was turbine like and made a lifelong impression on me.

Thank you for sharing this beauty,
Wojo

As an avid fan of classic cars I keep my eyes open for sleeping beauties and had been successful in the past. I now discovered this 6.0 litre XJRs being part of an inheritance and agreed to buy it. I know some find the XJS quirky and by far not as beautif...

Very cool indeed

and this specimen looks great (notwithstanding wing and rims). The engine makes an excellent impression on this layman in particular. Looking forward to any progress reports from you. Cheers Marc

Nice find! I've always liked the XJS styling although I have to admit that V12 scares me...

...If my XJ had been a V12 I probably wouldn't have bought it just due to supposed issues with them. (OK, I'll be honest, I still would have bought it but would have been paranoid it would leave me stranded some day) Of course when they're running well th...

Now lets see if this cat really performs that spectacular. It should as it is the even sharper version created by Tom Walkinshaw Racing. Not so many were built as far as I know. I advise how 330 HP and 6.0 litre feel on the road.

The TWR ‘s were special

4 speed auto and extra power. The only thing that would make it more fun would be a driven man conversion (5 speed manual)

Good colour! [nt]

My father had a new 1977 XJ-S and it was amazing when it was not in the shop. He upgraded to a 1982 model with Bosch electronics, it was much more reliable than the Lucas electronics. Both cars were a blast to ride in and drive.
