I’ve admired several Lange pieces over the years, especially from the back. IMO the craftsmanship of the Datograph and Zeitwerk deliver an irresistible combination of precision, engineering and art. But on my wrist they felt a bit thick and unbalanced. The thinner Lange options are tempting pieces, but lacked that special caseback “little city” allure. An exception is the RL PLM, which is in a class by itself with that incredible fusée-and-chain mechanism.

But ultimately I decided I wanted something more than a time-only piece, and I’m a big chronograph fan, so the 1815 Chronograph was in that sweet spot. I considered the different versions, but once I tried on the third generation boutique edition the decision was easy. It’s not a thin watch, but it’s really a pleasure to wear, and in addition to the beauty of the movement it has proven to be very accurate.

I also like the look of the big date window on the Datograph, even though I don’t ordinarily like date windows.

You’ve got a great watch! But it just won’t sit right on my wrist. And as Mr. Eastwood said, “A man’s got to know his limitations.”

Thank you kind sir!

Actually, your love for Lange helped to keep me inspired to stay in the hunt until I found the one that suited me best.

Thank you!

Congrats on the 1815 chronograph. I think it isn’t a thick watch, it actually sits quite nicely. My wrist is less than 6.5 inches and I own the datograph. So from my perspective the 1815 chronograph is a superb piece to own...an everyday chrono. Fwiw, I l...

wisely chosen...

And mln congrats with your acquisition. I like that boutique edition with the light blue.

Thanks! I think I ended up spending more time stalking and researching Lange than any other brand.

Initially I was so in love with the Zeitwerk. At that point I'd only seen photos and read extensive reviews, but never actually tried it on (or any other Lange). So I went to an AD with full intentions to buy one, but it just didn't feel right on my wrist...

Agreed about the 1815 Chrono and Datograph being virtually the same watch although the 1815 might wear a bit better due to being slimmer...

I understand your point about it as well. Luckily I find the Zeitwerk fits me fine whereas the Datograph was a bit thick and top heavy. With it's protruding caseback, I just could never find it super comfortable and always chose to wear a different watch,...

Totally agree 👍

Saw your post on another thread about the frustrating lack of response and I am glad that didn’t dissuade you from getting this beauty! That is a very fine and wonderful piece! Congratulations! Now the challenge is not to dig yourself deeper into the Lang...

Super Bill, that’s a big hitter. Congrats.

You’ve got everything you wanted on the movement side from the Dato, but in a better overall package for your wrist. This one is also my favourite of the 1815 Chronos, I’m a sucker for a scale on a chronograph. And most of us have way too many dark dials,...

Congratulations!

The 1815 Chronograph can definitely hold its own against the Datograph, and I personally prefer the aesthetics and profile of this model as well.

Congratulations !! Awesome piece
