Great to see these watches side by side!

I would say that one of the major bonuses working with independents are that they are very open to suggestions. I have not seen any of these in person, but the overall aesthetic of the Kudoke is more to my liking, but those Laine gradient colored dials are really cool!... In any case independents are the way to go! ;-)

Kudoke vs Laine

I’ll admit that I’m fairly new to the world of independents, although I’ve done some pretty intensive exploration in the past few months online. There’s an an entire universe to explore and I have barely scratched the surface! These two makers, Kudoke and...

I have tried on a Laine

and I found the 40.5mm case a bit too large. Otherwise, it is a lovely watch. I am partial to the Kudoke (both 1 and 2) for four reasons. One I love the dial of both their watches, Two the watches measure 39mm which for me is a better fit, Three the custo...

I think the best way is to try them both on the wrist and to see them in person

Unfortunately I haven’t been able to see the Laine watches in person yet so i cant say how it feels on the wrist and who’s behind the brand , i do hear the people are very friendly and there watches are very well made . I do know the brand Kudoke very wel...

A beauty

The salmon dial works brilliantly! I’m not aware of any watch that looks like the Kudoke 2. It would certainly add diversity to my collection. I do like the guilloche dials on the Laine, especially the green one, and I’m missing a guilloche dial in my col...

I totally understand your point of view

A Gronefeld with a Kari dial is definitely a grail watch for many . Not sure if thats possible anymore, as far as i know all 1941s are sold or spoken for . And with the Principia it isn’t possible to order a Kari dial to my knowledge. I didn’t opt for a k...

Your Gronefeld

Is stunning with the salmon dial. I recently inquired whether they are still accepting orders for the remontoire. On the website, it looks as though you can still order it.

I just contacted them

And confirmed that they are all sold out. Not all have been delivered and they are keeping a wish list in the event that a client cancels their order.

I just reached out to Kudoke

And asked them whether they would be able to create a guilloche dial for their Kudoke 2. They were very receptive! Apparently, many customers have asked them the same question and they are very willing to realize our dreams. Now I need to think hard about...

Movements are different.

I don't think you can say one is better finished than the other. Different approaches. I own one of each. The gestalt of the Laine is bolder but better is not something I'd say. Different. ...

That’s a good side by side

It’s rare to see both side by side like that. Thank you for sharing that. To my eye, it seems like the finishing for both is good, but maybe Laine incorporates some higher end techniques, many sharp angles, for instance

You're welcome

That's the thing. Have to see them up close. The Kudoke features some very impressive convex curvature anglage on the balance cock to go with the refined free hand engraving. And that is not to mention the rest of the movement. They are just different wit...

Does the Kudoke

Use a Habring and UWD movement? I thought I read somewhere that Marco Lang collaborated with Kudoke in developing this movement, in addition to Habring

I think the problem is it being difficult to see both side by side.

The Laine is a larger watch, but I will say with a 6.25 inch wrist the 40.5mm case is OK. Now, for me, if the price point had been a little higher my view on the case size would be different and I wouldn’t have gone with this watch. The Kudoke, with the s...

Yes

I’ve seen yours on this forum. It’s a very attractive piece

I have a new Kudoke and a new Laine

Cannot go wrong with either. Take you time. Here are mine. I'm very keen on a Laine Guilloche too. ...

Kudoke 2 for sure

The design is definitely more original and that to me is clearly why I think it’s the winner.
