Zenith

Please find below a few pics of the new El Primero Chronomaster 1969. This watch features a new El Primero caliber, the 4061. A specific work was done around the hours counter. In terms of performance, we get the usual figures: a power reserve of 50 hours...  

It reminds me the gomined era. Seriously, it ruins the dial, in my opinion. Best, Nicolas

Because without the aperture, you have in the El Primero Line the 36.000 VPH (with 42 or 38mm case) and of course, with a different complication the Striking Tenth. Morevover the aperture is also a kind of tribute to the 5hz frequency which becomes visibl...

i agree. i know it's heresy but i did like some of the style cues of the old regime: this open aperture thing, however, was not one of them. it was just a little outre in my eyes. the new direction of zenith does definitely have some very attractive model... 

as I can see why they would want to show the 5hz movement but it could have been circular to try to match the subdials. However the sub-dials are terrible...the minute dial would be the most useful but it is obscured by the overly large hour dial so any t... 

Like you, I believe (well... I'm sure) that priority goes to the minutes counter. So at least, I would have make it overlap the hours counter. It is a constant issue Zenith is currently facing. The only way to solve this is to draw a sober hours counter l... 

There was a time when the odd shaped aperture intrigued me... and it is a unique Zenith design... but the novelty has grown some mole-hairs hairs on its chin... truly needs to be tossed in 2012. Zenith looks a little desperate to be unique at this viewing... 

I understand your point of view but don't worry: the Baselworld collection will be more convincing. Fx

When Zenith presented this new declination of the El Primero I was very afraid of the contrast between vintage and modernity. Finally FX, your wristshot changed my first opinion. The dial is in fact quite harmonius... But if I had to choose, I would of co...  

about time zenith dropped this fugly open dial thing...sorry but it just looks so wrong on that watch, over complicates the dial and spoils it totally...now the last watch is beautiful....the open thing might be part of zenith's heritage, but they dont se...
