. . . skin; the leather I'm recommending is ostrich shin, which has sections with small irregular scales, and also sections with practically no scales at all. The strap on my Omega is like the former, and Matt's JLC, the latter.
For your Zenith, I think a strap like Matt's would be a good match, although burgundy might be a little too rich . . . perhaps brown, or possibly dark green, would be a better long-term choice.
