Thanks Art, Magnus and Oliver
What a treat to get this comprehensive tri-partite and eloquently written review of the Zenith novelties thus far.
For me,the Captain are nice, but unInspiring, Nothing takes my breath away. The El Primero Chronomaster Grand Date always looks better in reality than in pictures, and I am looking forward to seeing this delicious chocolaty version.
On the Type 20 1903, I have to side with Magnus and Oliver although I agree with Art that it is fun. I am sure it will have an audience amongst more fashionable people than ourselves so I am willing to let is slide, but definitely not to my taste.
I am not too sure of the "milking the cash cow" comment though. The Pilot collection is a pillar collection, and with the introduction of the Type 20s in 2012, and their warm reception, I do hope to see many further additions and evolutions of a now iconic design. I am not however happy with the current GMT line in any of their guises since learning it has a 25.6mm movement in a 48mm case. I am hoping to see an elegant simple three hand thinner manual wind version of this watch at 42-44mm with a display back, and a movement that fills the case.
Thanks for the report, and am looking forward to Live from Basel !
