Ok I will have a go…

I often think about this theme as I like to deduct to find the essentials in things I do. The same goes for my watch interest. I sometimes think of downsizing my collection to a minimum and just be done with it.I suppose many of us entertain this thought. I doubt I will in real life though. I enjoy this hobby too much.
Here is my take on the concept for this week.
The Chronometre a Resonance is what I’m wearing today. I just took this picture in the garden a few minutes ago since the sun is out and our cherry trees are in blossom.
To me, this watch is perfect. It is beautiful, it is a pleasure to wear in the wrist. It is functional with its two time displays. It is also an important watch in terms of horological significance. A unique concept. It makes me feel connected to the elements of nature and to science. Finally I want to mention the symbolic beauty of its two hearts beating in synchronicity. I will never get tired of it.
Explorer 1. I bought when my second son was born. I didn’t wear it much. Wasn’t sure if I even liked it. Thought about selling it….then came Covid 19. We were home all the time and suddenly it seemed like the perfect watch to wear. I really bonded with it during those 2 years and it is my go-to beater.
I love it and my son will get it when he is grown. His personality is a bit like this watch. Simple, very strong and and to the point.
This one is a bit silly but I love how happy it is. I always wear during our vacations as I only travel with one watch. It is loaded with great memories of southern Spain, Italy and the summerhouse, I don’t spare or pamper it so it is full of marks which only makes it better in my opinion.
I’m not much of a vintage watch collector. I have some but honestly they get less and less wrist time. Except this one.the Benrus Sterile. I just think it is the coolest watch with its large plexiglass dome. I also love the colors of the indexes that are peculiar orange and green. This one just gives me all the right vibes. It’s a keeper.
Finally. The watch I feel the deepest connection with. FP Journe Chronometre Souverain. My first Journe…
I had dreams about this watch. Not once or twice. Many times. I even had dreams about talking with Francois-Paul. Little did I know that these dreams one day would become reality. It is almost metaphysical to me.
The watch, I consider one of the best manual wind watches in the market even after 15 years. The movement is razor precise and a beautiful piece of design. I love the dial layout and I love how legible it is. It is perfect in its own right. I feel a very deep connection with this watch.
Here is a picture from the time I Had just picked it up many years ago.
