1. JLC Reverso Grande Sun Moon - long story short I found it on local craigslist in 2018, poor photos, reasonable price, I didn't know a lot about Reverso models at this time. Next day I spent 3 hours at car and finally I met the guy, the first owner. Watch was worn as g shock 😁 after I bought it I realised how rare it is, and how bargain price I get. After polishing the case and service, watch was like new and I fell in love in this rare 8 days model. My edc no1.
2. 70s Cartier Santos Dumont, gold model, Paris dial.
That one started my journey with vintage gold Cartiers.
I found it also the same way like Reverso, somebody was selling it as ladies panthere.
At this time I was looking for Santos Dumont ultra slim F. Piguet and this model wasn't very attractive to me, I thought it is a little bit odd. Now I am in love, the big octagonal crown and masculine profile with strong angles, one of my favourite 70s Cartier designs.
3.Cartier Tank Basculante CPCP Millenium edition one of 365 pcs.
After I bought steel 2390 Basculante in 2020 I started searching for some Cartiers locally. I found that few months back there was local auction where that gold Basculante was presented and auction ended as "no offers". At this time prices of 2390 started to raising very heavy and my 2390 was three times more than few months back. I thought that for sure somebody bought it after the auction and I didn't contacted the auction house. Few months later at evening when I was searching ( like every day ) for Cartier offers, that one appeared with the same price "buy it know" which was estimate at auction before, and at this time proces of CPCP models were really on top all over the world.. but not here. I couldn't sleep, and I was sure it can't be true, the watch for sure is sold etc. At morning I drove (25 min car from my place) to the jewellery shop which was offering the watch and asked if it is still available. The lady told that... Yes, we have this beautiful watch still, it wasn't sold and seller asked them recently to try offer it locally.
This day I bought one of the rarest Cartiers in my collection and ultra rare Basculante.
4. 60s Cartier Tank ultra plate with french hallmarks, Edmond Jaeger case and buckle, JLC movement.
I found it at US auction with some short description as just gold Cartier Tank, movement not checked, deployant without any hallmarks but tested as 18ct gold.
The dial was a little bit dirty, glass scratched.
I realised that model didn't have screws at sides so I wasn't sure if it is all original, the Cartier logo was smaller than in all models I knew. I contacted some instagram Cartier collector and he told me that it is nice vintage Cartier, but I shouldn't buy it without inspecting the movement because sometimes Cartier changed the vintage movements to brand new Eta ( in 70s and 80s).
Unfortunately the auction house didn't send me any photos and I took risk.
When the watch arrived I was after long reaserch and I knew that this is something rare! Yep, very rare Cartier Tank from 60s, EJ case, JLC ultra slim movement.
And aftermarket buckle....unsigned. Hmmm.. when I decided to change the strap I discovered that under the gold screw bar appeared all the Cartier hallmarks and... serial number which was matching the case serial number! That was original deployant buckle made as set with that case, something truly unique. After service the watch is looking like new, the patina or rust on the dial was easily removed and the new glass sealed this crazy cool Tank.
