As STATIC Photo judge, I had to imagine an autumn scenario
Sep 27, 2020,13:57 PM
Driving on an old road, so worn that the banks are taller than I am
I park the Jag off the road and start walking
under a grove of trees dropping their leaves I find a Panerai - oh no, someone has lost this fine watch. (Abel) I put it on my right wrist and smiling, cross the damp field.
and finally come to my country home, shrouded in the mist.
On the terrace, set on top of a couple of half-empty glasses I find a Lange!
Some kind of emergency must have broken up the conversation and the owner (Aperna) dashed off to save a life.
The person's life was saved, but Tony's watch was lost. I strap it on my other wrist, thinking both of these are about equal - I can't decide which goes on left (priority) or right (backup)
I wander into my Terra Cotta Pre-Raphaelite shrine and ponder the dilemma. What to do?
As I leave I have to cross a patch of deep grass. Laying on a rock, as if it fell from Mars, is the most fantastic timepiece I have ever seen. NOTHING has prepared me for this.
The other two watches are placed in left and right pockets (carefully so I can return them to their owners) and I strap on the alien watch.
I walk quickly towards the house, ducking my head as cold droplets skillfully slip past my hat and collar, running straight down my neck... ohh the chill.
I have found Number One. The Ultimate. The Unspeakable. The Relic of another space-time continuum.
But then I see a flash of green out of the corner of my eye, hear a deep THUD nearby, and the sky goes amber. Another THUD and all is silent.
It's a MARTIAN FIGHTING MACHINE, and I have picked up his watch!
A beam of light fixes on me and I rise, kicking and waving my arms as I drift ever closer to the monstrous machine!
Goodbye earth, I hope the experiments they try on me don't hurt...
