Is anyone here a fan of the velcro/NATO type of strap?

I have two - both due to problems with OEM bracelets.

The first is mounted to a Seiko perpetual diver that has proprietary bracelet lugs, and the half-rubber/half-titanium bracelet disintegrated.

THE STORY IS HERE

Thanks to the clever strap design, I was able to squeeze the strap's elastic portion to fit between the lugs (almost as if it was meant to be this way).

The second is now on my Citizen whose 22mm strap died of old age and failed adhesives.

This black cordura nylon and velcro strap changes the appearance of the dial to a much darker blue, almost charcoal in some light.

Both are comfortable, don't slide around, and have an industrial, get your hands dirty sort of look (not a dress option).

The prices are reasonable, and they offer an option to odd lug sizes and formats. NOT OEM in appearance or comfort (better in many cases) but still has a place in my collection.

If you have any straps like this, can you show us a few?

Cheers,

Cazalea

I put a “Shark” brand Velcro strap on my Tag Formula 1 after the original plastic strap cracked. The replacement strap’s only downside was that it started to smell as the summer went on; I worked as a lifeguard/swim instructor so the strap got wet every d...

I have an IWC velcro strap that fits the GST Line of watches!

Thanks for reminding me. These pictures are the best I could do without actually loading it onto the watch again I have to confess that with a big heavy watch head this strap is a bit anemic. Cazalea ...

Very cool.

I wasn’t aware that IWC made them for the “regular” GST line, although that Perpetual is anything but a “regular” watch. Huge fan 🙂.

I tried, never worked for me.

Something about the comfort, feel or whatever. Really wanted the concept to work for me. Have some NATO, but that's as far as I can stretch

I know they are very popular, and some look good.

but overall, I have never warmed up to them, especially when paired with "expensive-looking" watches.

Not for me ...
