The AP Starwheel has key similarities to this. However, I much more like how VC did the number discs to look like suspended stars or satellites, and how they designed the hour indication by ingeniously making it so that the hour “lights up” when it crosses into the area above the minute track. That year is the earliest reference to this watch I can find on the forum, although the 50 year anniversary of Sputnik would be 2007 as you note. There are a few past auction listings and 10 pieces is a bunch, so maybe someday one will be yours! Edit: now...
