Swiss tradition of festival masks
I can post Alex's 2007 article; Métiers d'Art Les Masques: The Face That Reflects The Soul's Movements, as a Best Of The Hour Lounge edition if anyone is interested in the backstory to these beautiful pieces?
The Swiss also have a long tradition of folk masks that accompany annual festivals and are unique to each region. We had the pleasure of seeing many examples in a Zurich museum but perhaps they are not suitable for watches...

Intricate fine details...VC must have high confidence in its skills to undertake this series.
For me, VC is unrivaled when it comes to bringing art and culture into horology.
Of course other brands, like Patek with enameling, go in the same direction sometimes. And they do wonderful things too. But I’m rarely as fascinated as with what VC does (personal feeling of course).
I can understand that of course, but feel very differently.
Poetry, plastic art, ethnology, horology: perfect mix for me. I would love to have some of these evocative masks and words on my wrist.

The variety in the Metier d'Art series is something to behold. The Mercator pieces still my favorites, I think.
The Mercator is wonderful, no doubt.
But, for me, the very special thing about this series is the mix of plastic art, ethnology and poetry. Pure dream for me.
