Reflection?
Feb 12, 2017,17:41 PM
How is the crown distorted by reflection? Can you please provide more photos?
Here is a catalogue page from 1967, showing a much thinner crown. I have also seen others with thinner crowns, and finer threads.
Regards,
Tony C.

Hard to replicate this charm and character with a modern production.
That's a beauty.

what's the reference number , do you happen to know ? Do you think the hands are original? Congratulations on the new purchase, love the dial. Best Regards Edward

Ref is 6594, versions have been shown with 2 types of VC hands, slim stick like hands and hands like this one has. Also, there is a no date version like this, and also a date version. Both automatic. Antiq has auctioned off a number of Ref 6594s but mostl...

I owned the same model years ago, albeit in yellow gold

This is the only photo that I can find, but the crown was quite different than that shown on the subject watch, and more in line, proportionally, with the one shown in the above catalogue. There is one for sale on chrono24 at the moment with box and paper...
Ah yes, now it all makes sense

You are assuming the Reference was identical between metals. Look at your hands, those are original to the YG model, but incorrect thin hands for the white gold version. You are In fact the original VC catalog did not even have a picture of the white gold...
Not entirely

It is true that there were different crowns for the reference, but on closer inspection, their application appears to me not to have been related to case metals, but hands. Those with the dauphine hands, like your example, apparently did feature larger cr...
On the positive note.....

when the brand services a watch they often change hands and crowns for new genuine ones, this watch must have been serviced several times. Enjoy your beautiful vintage VC to the fullest . Best to all my friends Edward
No - on a positive note ...

The positive note is that the hands dial crown are original and hallmark sharp. My research indicates that as do other examples of the reference in white gold and with these hands. Hopefully in service nothing changes!
Agreed on the blue dial

I believe very very few were made, I wish Vacheron's extracts included more dial detail like Patek does! Hard to know how many blue dials were made, I have not seen more than 1-2 ever come up for sale. I wish Vacheron made blue dial Patrimonys in the pres...
