My turn after being on waitlist
I have been considering the Vacheron Constantin Historique 1921 small (36.5mm) in WG since its release last year as part of 100th year anniversary. Decided to put my name on waitlist late last year, finally received good news 2 weeks ago. Almost got “cold feet” but after more consideration decided to take the plunge.
I have to say that now wearing it for a week, it keeps growing on me. The more i look at it, the more i admire the simplicity of the dial, hands, and not to mention the slanted dial orientation that enhances legibility. The sandblasted grey dial, in combination with black hands and numeral really gives it a “muted understatement” to others, while bringing a subtle but satisfied smile to the wearer.
Here are a couple of shots to share. And for those who are considering, i’d recommend getting it. This is one that’s likely to bring sentimental connection, as there’s simply nothing like it

I am planning to see if I can try this exact one at the boutique but I’m scared of what I will do afterwards! You’ve made an excellent choice, I love how well the movement fits in the smaller case.

Yeah, the 40 mm wears much bigger than actual stats. In my opinion it’s the equivalent of 42 mm ish. Too big for my humble small wrist

The 36 looks very good on my small 17cm circumference wrist. The 40 looks a bit oversized on my small wrist. But I still haven't ruled out the 40mm.

I would also recommend trying both. If your wrist is 17.5 and above, i suspect 40 mm fits better. Rose gold is also great. It’s warmer overall, and couldn’t be mistaken for steel. However the white hold version gives more understated look. Also when i loo...

For my wrist size, yes. 40mm lugs would be at borderline on my wrist, almost extending beyond edges.
