Looking forward to seeing your photos and a comparison
of your ownership impressions once you have had a chance to wear each for a while. Ordering both is certainly one way to make up for lost time, as you have not owned a VC before. I think your idea of one for dress and one for casual is a great way to look at them.
While I have tried both on, if I could only have one, it would definitely be the 1921. I love rose gold, and its case and dial just call to me. Its a dress watch I could see myself getting at somepoint and it would be a keeper. The Q'dI, is nice, a bit too austere for my tastes but it certainly is a break from VC's very traditional pieces. Good luck with both.
Best regards,
Dino

Has anyone noticed that the retail price of two of most most interesting Vacheron Constantin watches to be seen in years is only two hundred dollars apart? I am talking about the American 1921 and the Quai de l'Ile Self Winding in titanium: Other than sha...

The Patrimony Traditionelle (cal. 4400) is a relative bargain, and that is the one disturbing thing about the 1921 -- but the 1921 is special enough to make me consider paying the premium. It does make one pause to wonder what the difference between the t...

my tastes these days run toward the 'cool' or casual (ish) or sport (ish) watches... while I might choose the 21 in a battle for 'eternity' and perennial beauty, I still would go with the QDL, because it is so very very cool, so brave, so unique, and yet ...

and your solution to getting both a dressy and a casual watch. I think they make a great pair of VC's and I would be very happy were they the only two VC's in my collection. I just heard that the ONLY 100 series of Quai de l'Ile will be begin entering the...

I have been enthusiastic about the 1921 several times on this board already. I continue to be very attached to mine, and, while I don't keep track of such things ( in the hope of avoiding the room where mattresses replace wallpaper) I suspect my 1921 cont...

the 1921 is a great watch..... I would choose the QDI... A very unique watch..... However, I think that it is not a fair comparison as they are both very different watches- the only similarity is the case which are probably designed by the same person.......
