Hi! Alligator leather is more durable than calf, sting, snake.

Alligator leather straps can resist wear and tear better. If you notice belt made of cow hide or other leather materials they twist or curve when used often and are not anymore straight as a brand new one. But if it is made of alligator it is far better. Hope this help! Cost has nothing to do with it. Alligator belts are more expensive! Better quality!
