Vacheron Constantin

Delighted indeed

It is truly a masterwork.  The complications and, as you have pointed out, the aesthetics are both amazing.  It would have been easy to allow it to be a technical marvel and simply ignore the aesthetics.  But, always do better if possible, right?  One of the things I love is how it takes very "modern" ideas and re-implements them in a classically constructed manual piece.  This like selectable chiming and the ability to silence.  As well as having it have a "do not disturb" feature.  Many of these things were implemented in the electronic age first, simply because it was easy.  To reimagine them in the mechanical age is remarkable.  It is what I love most about watchmaking - an amazing blend of human ingenuity, artistic endeavor and science.  It is, essentially the embodiment of "technology" in the sense that the ancient Romans conceived of with Minerva (or Athena for you Greeks),  Interesting that she was the Goddess of Wisdom, but also of the arts and of craft.  That is technology, the blend of knowledge, arts, and crafts.
