 By: ospek : February 15th, 2024-10:48
Hi, I'm quite new to VC vintage references although I have been eyeing several watches for a long time. I would like appreciate the group's knowledge on this specific watch, reference 6413. I'm not sure if it's a redial or not. I've compared with other pi...

I am also an entusiast anout vintage V&C

My personal opinion: 1.altough the case shape in very good conditon , you should also ask movement photo and inside caseback photo 2.dial looks ok now, untouched condition must check HD photo. 3. buckle looks like AW buckle, you should check letters on ba...

More pictures for sure.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I agree on additional photos, I will ask for them. As for the dial it is very clean, but I’m not an expert so hard for me to tell.

Great. Good luck with the purchase.

I don’t collect VC

But my sister and I do collect other vintage brands from the 1930’s thru the 1950’s. My first impression is that the dial is too clean and the case has been worked on (unless it’s an enamel dial and then it could be possible) That said, that doesn’t mean ...

It’s hard to tell.

Gold is soft and you would expect to see some scrapes and gauges. But it could also be a single owner who really cared for it. Either way it will look great and be enjoyable to have on the wrist, right?

I think the case is unpolished. The edges are sharp and strong and even shows some oxidation marks which is good sign for unpolished. The dial have more doubts, it's difficult to go through that many years and still be that clean...

But as you say, even it has been clean up a little but is original I can definitely enjoy it. As for the size I think this one is 34-35mm which I totally fine with. It is actually what I'm looking for.

I think…

If it’s what you are looking for and the the hands, markers, crown and dial color check out and most importantly if the movement is in good working order, enjoy it. You may have to baby it a little as it’s an old girl, but there’s nothing like wearing a v...

Fully agree!

the movement should be calibre 453/3c for the small seconds when you open the back up. look to see if it has the geneva seal and 18j-rare.?

(if it was centre seconds calibre 454)-based on the jlc 450 ebauche which were made between 1940's into 1960's. the dial is an- original one- by the looks of it take it to a vc AD for service-this watch will be worth it worth 5-6k

I guess the caliber is 453/3B or 453/3BW

I didnot see 453/3C with double Geneva Seals before.

Hi

If you can get updated photos, please share them on the forum . Each member's kind reminder here comes from their own experience, but personal experiences are one-sided. Seeing real photos may simplify many complex issues.

Here are some additonal pictures

So it is the caliber 453/3BW with double Geneva seal and 18 jewels. From what I could read, the serial number (569XXX) should be from between 1965 and 1970. Buckle seems to be solid 18K gold. Appreciate your thoughts. ...

buckle no problem

Any reason why the seller would hide it?

Yes the buckle is correct

Could you provide an example of it

Vacheron et Constantin officially changed its name to Vacheron Constantin in 1970. At one time I had a ref 7592 with the cal 1120 automatic and ampersand dial, dated by VC to 1975. Lastly, both dial versions appear in the 1976 catalog, but not after then....

Would you have any insights on the fonts printed on the dial?

 By: ospek : February 21st, 2024-15:34
I see some references with a sans serif font some with serif like reference I'm posting here. I'm wondering if the font is correct on this watch. Many thanks!

Thanks for the input

What imperfection do you see specifically? Actually, the more I compare this watch to other pictures from the same reference the more confused I am. Almost impossible to find two that are exactly the same exact font.

The word Vacheron. See attached zoomed in pic.

No worries. Not always easy to distinguish what is what from online pictures.
