Vacheron Constantin

i just got this watch. i am not a collector (might become one!) and the numbers inside are: 447856 and 2871c3. i was told this is a "50s" watch, but is it 40s based on these numbers? ut is it 40's based on the numbers?...  

I think the 447856 movement # dates it to the 1940s. The 2871c3 looks unusual to me for a case number because of the letter "c", I usually expect to see a six-digit number where all the digits are numbers. I know there are exceptions to this rule, but am ... 

yes, it is a rose gold case and face. It actually looks more rose in person. i will take some pictures of the interior. Thanks for the feedback. One other quick question. Should i put a cross rose buckel on this watch if i can get one?

The Maltese Cross buckle didn't exist when your watch was made, so getting one wouldn't really make it original. A vintage VC buckle was a simple, square, buckle that PP and others used as well. Some choose the new Maltese Cross buckle (it is very nice), ... 

Vintage buckles and bands makes a great sub-topic! As these are considered replaceable items, it doesn't diminish the value of a vintage watch to have modern straps or buckles of equivalent quality or, most preferred, from the original supplier if they ar...
