The Maltese Cross buckle didn't exist when your watch was made, so getting one wouldn't really make it original.
A vintage VC buckle was a simple, square, buckle that PP and others used as well.
Some choose the new Maltese Cross buckle (it is very nice), while others prefer to make vintage watches as original as possible and prefer a vintage buckle.

i just got this watch. i am not a collector (might become one!) and the numbers inside are: 447856 and 2871c3. i was told this is a "50s" watch, but is it 40s based on these numbers? ut is it 40's based on the numbers?...
