I think this scratch-built model was built in the mid 1980s. The builder had access to original drawings, lines, construction details, voyage logs and books, news reports, and some contemporaneous paintings/etchings of the ship. He built it to what he considered to be the largest of the “miniature” scales, at 16’=1” (1/192) and the ship is around 18 inches including the bowsprit. He left off some of the deck planks and also left the port hull exposed to show off his mastery of accurate construction methods and his skill at working in small scales.
