Need some expert advice

I'm new to the forum and can only reply to existing threads. I own a UN Maxi Marine chronometer (263-67) it's one of my favorite watches in my collection. It's been on the rubber strap for years but I recently purchased the alligator leather strap hoping to be able to switch back and forth. Unfortunately, one of the four screws (there really only to close the lugs on the sides because the inner bar is really what hold the strap in place) is spinning and spinning but will not come out. I've taken the watch to 2 local jewelers who were also unable to remove the screw. Has anyone experienced this issue? is there anything to do other than getting the watch back to UN? i know that will be expensive because there is no retailer in the country I live in. Thanks in advance!

I'm having trouble finding an OEM version of three part set of rubber straps for my Marine Chronometer Manufacture 43mm. I have the hardware parts. I can find the Chinese knock offs and they fit but are a lot less flexible than the original. Any ideas? Ma...

A UN dealer, or go to the website and order directly?

alternatively you might find a set on eBay from an owner who got rid of the watch and still has the strap pieces Good luck. And welcome! Cazalea

thanks

I have requested a band from UN and am waiting a response. Only OEM straps I find on Ebay are few and far between, cost >$800 and include the titanium hardware pieces which I have. Just wondered if there was anywhere I overlooked.

Why have you not spoken to UN?

They have the parts.

I Have

I have requested a band from them but have not yet had a reply. I thought I'd see if there were alternatives while I wait.

Let us know what happens. (nt)

$400 is a bit high for three pieces of rubber!

I only got two bits for my money

Not from U-N, this strap was from Hysek; ordered factory direct. This was from Bell & Ross via my local sales lady Yolanda; buckle not included. This was from Silberstein, buckle not included. I see the replacements on the left with leather lining came fr...

Thanks Cazalea

The UN bands look pretty tough, but I'm fairly inexperienced. Thanks for the tips on the other sources. I spoke with Burdeens Jewelry (Chicago) and they are checking if they can order a UN one for me... the guy I spoke to thought it would be around $350. ...

I have one ordered

Burdeen's has ordered one for me. About $380 with taxes. I think the timepiece deserves a blue band!

Good news!

Very nice watch. Congratulations. Please keep us posted of the outcome.

I heard back from UN

Thank you for the compliment ! I spoke to UN and they sent me a link to fill out, but it turns out to be a request for a customer care package, apparently to send in my band to replace the rubber parts. Now I am understanding why there are few and very ex...

I've had a few older (late 90s to 2010-ish) UNs with this three piece strap and they have all been excellent for longevety and ability to retain original suppleness/flexability. Some from Bremont

(Descent Diver), IWC (original Cousteau diver) got stiff, hard and brittle and required replacement when the UNs didn't (and still haven't). So to me its totally worth $350. Beautiful watch and it will look better on a bllue strap!

Thanks and not surprised

that the UN straps hold up so well.! If I am able to get a UN blue strap for $350, I am going to do it.
