A San Marco Alarm, impulse buying and a sort of bonus...

In 2004, I found myself in Europe for a few extra days and stumbled into a used watch dealer where I picked up this steel Ulysse Nardin San Marco Alarm Ref. 603-77. I bought it on impulse (I have better control these days), and it occupies a position in t...

return parts in general, that's my understanding. VC did not return the old crown from my vintage piece, and as far as I know it is the same for Patek. It is a bit annoying but I believe that they simply don't want parts to be sold on ebay or use to build...

I expect you are quite right, but it seems wrong given ownership of the sum of the parts, especially where there is some intrinsic material value as in a gold crown. On 29 May, 2015, at 8:03 pm, www watchprosite < [Email address suppressed for privacy]...

Golden parts, like crowns, are often not returned. But then - this is the official position - the price of the replacemenpt part already calculates the material value of the old piece kept. Otherwise, it would be illegal. As a general rule, I receive the ...

I understand gears, seals and crowns wear for sure, but the base plate is a surprise. On mine, I can't see anything wrong with the dial or the buckle...but they were changed. On 29 May, 2015, at 9:01 pm, www watchprosite < [Email address suppressed for...

Will remain a mystery. I bought the watch at a vintage store in Europe and the spare parts were in a service bag in the box with the watch with no service paperwork. Dials and buckles are identical and look as new. On 1 Jun, 2015, at 12:36 am, www watchpr...

This San Marco alAlarm is a real looker.

Looks beautiful and I haven't seen it very often. What would make you keep this piece after all? Except the hassle of having to sell it? Just curious, I think it's a beauty! :) HAGWE, S

I don't tend to sell many watches at all...there are those that I never tire of, and then some that fall out of favour. There a a few that I have sold and I have regretted a couple. On 29 May, 2015, at 10:00 pm, www watchprosite < [Email address suppre...
