First, thank you! I shoot jpgs freehand and process with Photos on my iMac. The camera has a fixed zoom lens that goes 24-600mm and I often am at 600 when shooting these birds. I normally use the AUTO setting on the Sony. ...

The first photo, that of the hummingbird. Is that taken with the Sony?

Sometimes I take wrist / watch photos with my iPhone but I use the Sony for everything else. It’s not that keen on focusing within 1-2 feet.
