Willier makes good bikes

And carbon is a good material for pretty much every sort of riding.  When I chose my gravel bike, however, I wanted something extra durable.  I had Mike DeSalvo in Ashland, Oregon, make me a custom titanium gravel bike.  I'm very fortunate to live in Oregon, where there are a plethora of custom bike makers who are among the best in the world.  The advantage of titanium is that it is essentially indestructible.  I kept it raw titanium as well, so I can easily buff out any scratches that might develop on rides.  And titanium doesn't rust.  Titanium also has a lot of lateral stiffness which is great for acceleration and climbs.  I'm absolutely in love with this bike and have abused the crap out of it.

Looks like you live in Maryland?  At least that's where this bike shop seems to be located.  There are a few very good East Coast bike makers, one of which if FireFly out of Massachusetts.  They make some awesome titanium frames.  Unfortunately, as with independent watches, the wait times for fabrication can be long, but might be worth looking into, especially since you're considering a Willier, which is in a higher price bracket already.
