for any blues fans here, i was in the presence of greatness last night
my interest in photography has been very good at working with my interest in live music, especially blues.
last night i had the privilege of seeing the great Buddy Whittington. Buddy is formerly a member of John mayalls bluesbreakers, as have guitarists such as Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Walter Trout, Carlos Montoya and Otis Grand amongst others. virtually every guitarist who has been nurtured by John Mayall have gone on to greatness, but Mayall is actually quoted as saying that Buddy is the best guitarist to be a bluesbreaker which is a true accolade.
luckily for about 100 of us, Buddys original gig had been cancelled so the trio were looking for somewhere to play and a friend of mine and promoter jumped at the chance of having him play.
to say that the performance was stellar is really an understatement, Buddy plays the blues like he was born to do it, which of course he probably was coming from Texas.
if you've never heard of him, get onto youtube and have a listen although his cd's dont compare to a live performance.
Another friend is writing a review of the gig for Blues in Britain magazine so next month could well be my first published pictures.
Heres just a few of the many i took.
enjoy, 'cos i did
