my interest in photography has been very good at working with my interest in live music, especially blues.

It's always incredible to listen to bands that sound better live than their cd's.  I used to work at a place that had treated a lot of musicians.  They would often drop off their cd's and we got to listen to a lot of their stuff.  Many of the Jazz performers played for us when we did a open house and it was amazing how great they sounded, impressive was that it was even better then their cd's!

The pics show off how much energy they have on stage but its a little blurry.  Where they moving a lot?  Maybe shoot more shots wide open?

it was very difficult as it was in a village hall, the lighting was awkward and i dont like to use flash as some musicians dont like it.
guitarists tend to move a lot especially their hands so if i can capture a good body and face with a blurred hand that shows the movement.
i also dont like to get in the way of the other fans who were sitting at tables. i'm sure that will ease with practice though.
most of these were shot at 6400 iso using my 18-200mm zoom so the results are pretty good under the circumstances.
i do have a fast 50mm and 24mm which i should have taken with me, but i wanted to get in close without bring too close.

if i get published using just 1 or 2 of the best pics i will be more than happy.

i'll be honest Doc,
i've just looked at them again on my laptop and i see few signs of blur. there is some noise due to the iso, but very little blur.
then again i do wear varifocal glasses :)

It might be the focus points.  For example the last pic seemed it was on the microphone.  How is your autofocus set?  Indoor and low light is always a fun challenge!

i always set it at single point centre focus and use back button focusing, but in that lighting who knows what the sensor is doing.

the pic for Blues in britain magazine has been chosen so will be getting picture frame ready for next months edition.
its a big deal for me to get a pic published even if there are only 5000 readers.
