West Coast, Last Century, A Different Era
A neighborhood known as University Heights is our discovery zone for today. Houses from a century ago, more or less, with

a few newer homes sandwiched in.

Some are quite large, probably extended a few times.

Others are suited to chaps who put their money into watches.

The prettiest ones have a plaque in front to tell us about architect, builder or first owner.

There's a shocking absence of consistency...

sunglasses are advised on some of these homes.

As usual, there are a few that appear cosmetically (and structurally) challenged.

We peeked over the crumbling wall to see a massive canyon behind this house.

We walked South to the bridge and crossed Eastward over the canyon. Here's a look down to Mission Valley, which is to our North.

On the other side of the canyon the homes gave way to Thirties apartments... this reminds me of Hollywood detective shows from the Fifties. One garage per apartment, etc.

The black door in the center must be the Landlord's reserved spot.

We saw some nice gardens.

This is a meditation garden provided in the place of a home (by its owner who is no longer on this mortal plane) to his teacher.

A hummingbird chirped his approval of my visit.

This front entry step display added to my sense of peacefulness.

Homes continued to interest us - the good,

the so-so,

and the Dodge Camper Special owners'.

Someone has forgotten to trim their Sticks of Fire plant.

We saw more Honda Elements; I think 4 in total.

Pre-fab housing tract (4 on the lot of 1)

and an apartment available (hopefully at a low price).

We passed a row of interesting cars (across the road from a body shop)

and if you wanted to get your body spiked and inked, a place for that too.

THE END
OOPS! The watch!
