TimeOut

The bittersweet Merry Christmas of 2020...

We were in Maui in the Spring of 2020 when Covid was shutting down places and Hawaii was essentially closing. We missed the trip in the Fall we usually take but we decided to chance it and go for Christmas. There were a lot of restriction and a lot of closed business and not a lot of tourists.

We had a great time as usual but the other side of the coin was that the people of Hawaii finally had the islands to themselves and it started a rather heated debate that still rages today, there and other places about the amount of "over tourism" which is a factor in quality of life for the people living there.

Closing down in the Spring of 2020.

Obligatory watch shot.

Not many people on the beach or taking the boat/snorkling tours.

A good sign.

Lots of space.

Christmas in Hawaii is kinda "under done". I guess they need a good snowfall.

Wearing a mask can ruin a good tan.

Where did everyone go?

Toll bridge operator. Cost us 20 bucks. Each time.

Live lawn ornament.

San Franciso Airport Hotel.

Precautions.

More precautions.

But all in all,.....still Paradise.
