This house's lot is extremely deep and opens onto the street behind it as well.
Gravel drive and architecture remind me of houses in England where we lived for a year.
Slightly eccentric floor plan wraps around this corner lot (extra wing added past the garage).
I didn't realize the coral tree had such brilliant flowers until I cropped this photo. Nice touch having window boxes with flowers, and ornamental stars on the eaves, too.
And finally a monstrosity that we just can't figure out. What is in that huge, windowless wing? It must be entirely focused on looking out over the house in front of it.
Living Between Beach and Bay
There are a few neighborhoods on both East and West coasts where you can live on a causeway, spit of land, long isthmus, etc. and essentially be framed by water on both sides. We walked in the midst of one of these areas today. Some "normal" or "original"...
All of that variety is great....
But it also serves to frequently affirm my preference for traditional Spanish haciendas in this environment/climate.... Anyway, the wonderful bit of news that I have is that I've finally purchased my dream camera, and cannot wait to 'hit the shutter runni...
As a native Californian, there is much to love...
...and so much variety in the architecture of this state. My son lives a bit north of you in LA, and I see rebuilds like 7 and 8 everywhere. I don't see any of this style in the Bay Area except for small pockets. I wonder why?
Perhaps a strange question, but do people never find it suspicious that you take pictures of private properties?
