Fillmore East is legendary. The other legendary-but-now-defunct West Coast venue besides Fillmore West was the Golden Bear located in my hometown, Huntington Beach. And I never saw a show there, either.

Actually, I attempted getting into a show at the Golden Bear: Stevie Ray Vaughn in '83. Someone supposedly had a way to get his friends in, so four of us jammed down after work. As it turned out, he only had enough pull to get two in.

Fortunately, a SRV show was on my agenda a few years later at The Wiltern in LA. Some consider him the second best blues guitarist of all time. Not sure I agree with that assessment, but wouldn't argue the point.
