I know you’re accustomed to the sites you see…
but I’m not kidding when I say that the spectrum of foliage that you show on posts such as this almost strikes me as scenes from Avatar in a land whose natural habitat almost defies the imagination. Wow, and I thought I did good and widened my perspective by moving to the burbs.🤣 Now I really feel bad for the kids😳.
Questions:
1. What are those woolly mammoth-like trees?? Is that what an old palm tree looks like? I don’t think so, since the fronds don’t grow along the length of the trunk, yes? Truly amazing.
2. The fried egg poppies are awesome, but what were those sunburst looking flowers on a red base??
3. Lastly, what was that green spiked thing hanging from the stalk? I swear, if you told me it’s a sleeping Pokémon I’d believe you.
Amazing to think this is all growing naturally in one area.

Palms look like this if the fronds aren’t cut off as the new ones grow at the top. The old fronds make a mess but good homes for rats … Flowers of the crimson bottlebrush Fruit of the Marah oreganus “Manroot” ...
