I’d like to feel excited, but...
... I’m not exactly thrilled about this World Cup, which is already tainted by corruption (even more so than previous ones…), the outrageous inflation in ticket prices for a sport that claims to be for the people, and the poor reception given to supporters of teams frowned upon (just taling about the US here, not Canada or Mexico). And I’m not even mentioning the ‘refreshment breaks’, which are really just a ploy to show twice as many adverts during the games.
Having said that, as a Paris Saint-Germain fan, it would be refreshing to see a new winner, such as Portugal (Nuno Mendes, Joao Neves, Vitinha and Gonçalo Ramos playing for PSG).

Italy's absence hurts. But the tournament spirit lives on.
It's tough to see Italy sitting this one out. No excuses for missing qualification they earned that absence. But I respect their decision not to take Iran's spot. That was the right call. I'll be watching for the US, hoping they can surprise a few teams. ...
