Another villager and the seasoned watch collector: an unexpected find
A seasoned watch collector visiting southern Spain was walking on the countryside near a remote village when he saw an old man (Viejo) sitting on the ground under the shade of a tree beside his donkey, both taking refuge from the chastising midday sun. The collector noticed that Viejo was not using a watch and decided to have a bit of fun.
The collector said: Good afternoon Viejo, do you know what time is it?
Viejo looked at the collector and without altering his position he took a dry wooden stick from the ground and with the stick he reached for the donkey’s testicles and replied: it is quarter past twelve.
The collector looked at his watch and was surprised to see that it was indeed quarter past twelve. He thought to himself: I will test him again when the hands of my watch reach exactly 12.27 on today’s date. And so he did. Viejo again used the wooden stick to reach for the donkey’s testicles and replied: it is 12.27.
The collector was by now sure that in the testicles of this donkey’s breed from a remote village in southern Spain, he might have found a primitive time-regulating organ at the base of the verge, possibly even older. He checked and re-checked, and every time the donkey’s testicles would consistently produce the exact time.
It was approaching six PM and by now the collector had decided that this was an unexpected time-keeper find of a life time, that possibly belonged to a museum, and he had to instantly pull the trigger and add it to his collection. And so he did. Although the donkey was not green, it was fashionably grey and the collector bought from Viejo both donkey and stick for setting the exact time, and walked away.
Another villager that had watched the whole shenanigans from a distance walked to Viejo and asked: What was all that about?
Viejo finally stood up and said: dunno; this guy kept asking the time; my donkey’s balls were on the line of sight of the village tower-clock and I had to keep bothering the poor animal to get to see it. He then said something about a vingtache unexpected find, bought a stick and the donkey from me and walked away elated.
