Almost did some cat snatching today

It's been over a month since we buried Tiger, and it's still painful. Today we took a walk down by the estuary at low tide, and found a beautiful, friendly kitty.

It was dozing in the shady warmth of this autumn afternoon.

When he saw we were looking at him, he stood up, stretched, and ambled over for some love.

Somehow cats know "cat people".

This blue-eye is not camera-shy

Nice complimentary color for my Seiko strap, too.

We could have grabbed him, but then someone else's heart would be aching...

We played around with these bees for awhile, coming and going from their underground hive in a sprinkler box. I kept bees for about 10 years -- and they get into your heart too, in a strange way.

There were plenty of fresh blossoms on these coyote bushes for them to harvest.

An odd berry cluster

As we walked back towards the car, another cat appeared. Same size and age, but very different coloration and green eyes.
This one played hard to get, and ran away before coming back for some petting. I even picked him up for a moment (looking around cautiously)

We walked about 100 yards or more along a sidewalk towards our car. The cat followed us, leaping from dirt to tree branch to bridge arch to deep grass. He paralleled our walk, but inside the fence while we were outside.

We crossed the creek, went on to where the wilderness gave way to manicured lawns of an apartment complex.
The cat found a small opening in the fence, emerged onto the grass, and laid there just out of reach before coming over for more rubbing.

Then he followed us all the way back across the creek, and we left him where we found him. The egret just watched.

We came home empty-handed. Sigh. Next time we go with a can of food, a net, and a cat-carrier.  smile

Archie, my senior boy on my lap made it all the better. I know it takes time for the pain to ease a bit. Kent

Very sweet...

It took us 8 months after our old girl passed to be able to open our hearts again. Seeing other cats did help the healing though, and looks like you found some very friendly ones!

Your new buddy

Cats definitely know cat people and it sounds like it’s time to give one a home at Mike’s Restaurant and Garage ! If you shop online just be careful or you could end up with the wrong Tiger 2 … ...

Thanks for the good wishes, but it would have to be Tiger IV

I don't have any digital photos of Tiger I. He came to us in his middle age from Iowa when my grandmother died. Maybe about 1980-1984. This is Tiger II who was with us from 1983-2004. He was kidnapped by some girls on a cross-country team who were out on ...

Spotted this one today …

Cats somehow know cat people. They just sense it. Perhaps it is in the approach. They also get a bad rap for those that don't understand the feline. They are certainly an acquired taste. Don't get me wrong I am a dog person too. We lost our Golden about 4...
