Trimmed Those Toenails? Join Us for a Walk, Part 1
I couldn’t resist this headline though I may have to change it if no one joins us on our walk around an old neighborhood where we saw lots of interesting architecture and plants. Almost no animals, sorry!
However, we were strafed by several sets of hummingbirds, none of whom stayed for a portrait, so here’s a photo from a couple months ago to kick things off (notice she’s been working already this morning):
COLOR is one of the notable discoveries today. Color in plantings, not necessarily from the flowers but also from the foliage.

I noticed this small hedge was chaos; my wife said “It’s growing naturally” but I think they have trained it to be this wild. Could it have been BORN TO BE WILD? (Art, I know I’m asking for it).

From the other end of the property:

Big old house around the corner has color, as well as

the only dog we saw outside this morning. I wonder who’s walking them today?

OR were we too late for the dog walkers, I wonder, as I add my own splash of color.

My wife knows all these species but I can only remember Protea

ah, and these on the left are sticks of fire.

This house had a bold splash of blue trim and some very nice pots along their entry walk.

This house and garage are planted sideways on the lot.

Hedges are all in bloom here, and Poinsettias from Christmas still happily thriving, probably under the dining room window. We have a massive multi-color Poinsettia on our porch too. They like our local weather.

(Our Poinsettia)

I like these pincushion-like flowers.

The house is superb too - architecture, siding, colors, all of it.

Architectural variety spans the 20th century and from Spain to England to ?

This is a disciplined front yard. Geometry rules here.

While just across the street is an entirely different look!

They still planted Protea

Here are some Azaleas which I appreciate, being Cazalea myself (a made-up name)

Citrus hasn’t yet been shown, but there is plenty to be seen in the Azalea yard.

As shown in this wide shot.
and here.

I have a few more so please join us in Part 2.
