Sunrise and the Sea, Part 1

We got up early, headed for San Diego Bay's southernmost corner, and watched the sun come up over the water.

Temperature in the Forties. Humidity around 25%. Winds from the East 15-25 mph with gusts to 45 mph. That means clear skies. We are having Santa Ana wind conditions

This view is southeastward.

Sun finally burns through the hillside and hits us directly!

The birds notice the sunrise,

and turn to face it.

The temperature seems to rise at least 10-15 degrees.

How often have I gotten a picture of a bird scooping up a fish and flying off with it? Only twice and the first was not in focus.

Where is the waterline here?

Happy birds finding breakfast in the freshly-uncovered mud.

We look back over our shoulders and now (with the Zoom lens) we can see the salt works at the east side of the bay.

This is the spit of land we just walked out and back on, to view the sunrise over as much water as possible.

We crossed over the highway and went to the ocean.

A pelican flies across our view of the Los Coronados Island(s) offshore and in Mexican waters.
