Foggy at home, clear at the lake
We’ve had serious marine layer fog for the last few days, as anyone who’s tried to fly in or out of San Diego has discovered. In order to get sunshine and dry air we needed to go East!

This is better than where we live (out West in that gray band)

Here’s another look from a bit farther and higher.

Oops! Got distracted. Do you think the Christmas inflatable toy truck broke down here, and off-loaded all his inventory?

Time to stop driving and start walking!

We found an entrance to the Mission Trails Open Space
and set out across the hills heading SE.

A few flying objects distracted me (no drones).

Notice the ants. This camera can capture detail! The flower stalk is virtually dripping with nectar

The stalk on the left is a few weeks old, the center one is just getting started, as the bottom foot or so blooms; eventually all of it will be open and the insects will drink their fill.

Below us we can see Lake Murray, a city water reservoir with some aquatic use permitted, such as boating and fishing, but no swimming or wading.

Magnificent sycamore trees tower above us.

A convenient rock provides a perch for my wife to view the sharp hills to our NE.

Meanwhile there’s action on (if not under) the water on the lake.

Good vibrations!

Father and daughter having a chat.

We were down here walking along the lake a few months ago. The arrow points to our position today.

I’m getting hungry, and we left our snacks in the truck. Bummer.

The hawk is looking for breakfast too.

As we located our truck I noted that we have experienced lots of verticality today...

We stopped at an antique store for a bit of last-minute Christmas shopping and nostalgia. Here’s a learning station for boys to practice math, alphabet, telling time and dreaming of speed.

A copy of the very first album I ever purchased. However, notice the label at the left — I bought the monaural version for a dollar less, because we didn’t own a stereo, way back in 1966.

Wonder Bread builds strong bodies, 12 ways. Didn’t work that well for me though.
An album that came a decade later, when we were just married. The band played in our college gym a few years before this album appeared. Jethro Tull was a band, not a guy, just in case you didn’t know. Ian Anderson was the guy. How confusing?!
We finally escaped the antique shop only $15 lighter, and by the time we got home the fog was almost all gone. Yay!
Thanks for cruising with us today,
