Seiko

You are most welcome!

I am not sure which Calatrava you were actually considering - the discontinued 5119 range or the classic 5196.  The 5196 is more comparable in size and dial to the Grand Seiko SBGW231 but the 215 movement is not visible. In addition, the lugs do not curve as well as those on the Grand Seiko so even though this watch is 0.3mm smaller than the Grand Seiko, it wore larger.on my wrist  The 5119 is a lovely watch and this time the 215 movement is visible although one might argue the movement is too small for the watch. The hob nail bezel is something you will either love or hate and the white dial is not as attractive in my opinion compared to the 5196 or the cream dial on the Grand Seiko. I love Pateks as those who know me will attest to. With Patek, you do not just buy a well made watch but you buy the entire experience which is difficult to quantify - once hooked you will understand my passion for Patek.

Saying that, I strongly feel that few brands, if any, currently offer a better ratio of price to quality as Grand Seiko do. If one is able to be objective and not bother about buying a non Swiss or German made watch, then, a Grand Seiko would make a compelling choice.
