Question around SBGM221 redesign

Jan 31, 2020,09:25 AM

Hello all - I've been a big fan of Grand Seiko's SBGM221 for a few years now. I'm leaning towards finally picking one up, but have heard rumor that GS is planning to release their 2020 watches in March. I realize folks aren't likely to know, but on the off chance someone does - can anyone confirm if that time frame is correct or if they are aware of any impending changes to the SBGM221? I'd hate to pick one up only for GS to shortly thereafter announce a newer (thinner?) version, for example.

Thanks!

I do like that dial color and layout a lot . Not aware of any rumors about a new version, sorry

Well, admittedly making it slightly thinner would be nice.

I’m not really looking for any changes, just want to make sure a new model variation of it isn’t right around the corner. Thanks!

I’d bet they won’t change it

This is basically the previous model with Seiko on the dial, and it didn’t change at all for at least a decade of production. Similar to my GMT This is a tough watch, not delicate. Not too thick (the Hi-Beat is thicker) ...

This is one of the best looking Grand Seiko's.
